Frankfort, the capital of Kentucky is a small town with an estimated 40 Muslim families. In 2002, the community purchased and renovated a rundown meat processing store to establish the Masjid, which now serves approximately 70 families including those from nearby towns. However, the current building is too old to renovate and lacks clean, functional bathroom and wadu facilities. The existing small lot, with only 13 parking spots , cannot accommodate the growing needs of the community for a new Masjid.
As our community has grown, we purchased a land to build Frankfort's first purpose-built Masjid. To cover the estimated $2.5 million construction costs, we are seeking your support.
In 2022, we purchased a properly zoned 2.5-acre land at 160 Flynn Avenue, which is centrally located and situated on a central highway that connects much of Frankfort.
We have completed the site plan and civil engineering documents and obtained the necessary land development permit.
McCoy Architects LLC has been contracted to complete the required architectural drawings for the project and we are currently in the process of obtained the final building permit.
The plan is to build a two-floor, 8,500 square foot building (basement and first floor).
The Masjid will have a prayer area that accommodates 200 people for Jumaa and includes library and an office.
The basement will have storage area, kitchen, and a community gathering area.
The new location will have over 100 parking spaces, grassy play area and a picnic shelter for children and activities.
Alhamdulillah, new Masjid ground breaking ceremony took place on 16th February 2024. Construction will start InshaAllah on March 2024.
